About Happy Cynic Software
Happy Cynic Software is a solo studio that builds useful, opinionated tools for real people. We believe software should be clear, purposeful, and maybe even a little clever — not bloated, trendy, or pretending to be your best friend.
Founded on the principle that skepticism and optimism can coexist, Happy Cynic designs with both in mind: sharp enough to question the default, and idealistic enough to build something better.
We focus on creating calm, focused products that solve practical problems without wasting your time (or battery life). Every detail matters — from the checklist flow to the copy tone — because thoughtful software should feel like it knows what it’s doing.
About the Founder
Michael Klein is the founder and sole builder behind Happy Cynic Software. With a background in technology innovation, product strategy, and digital identity, Michael has spent years helping large enterprises and ambitious startups design smarter systems — and occasionally, avoid terrible ideas.
Happy Cynic is his way of bringing thoughtful, opinionated software into the world without the noise. He writes code, crafts UX, and second-guesses the default settings so his users don’t have to.
